Again, I am satisfied with a job well done. Dominic, I don’t know his title, but he did an excellent job getting me prepped, doing a lot of the tedious work that was necessary for me to have done. Great worker, Great attitude! Let’s be realistic, no one enjoys going to the dentist for major repair, but the doctors and the entire organization are good at their jobs! I own a business down the road from them which I have working for 43 years. I only have 5 star reviews end it certainly has helped me with my business, so I think it is Important to give my opinion of other businesses in Winter Park.      I switched over to Winter Park Dentistry a couple months ago and it was one of my better decisions. Dr. Whitehead is one of the best dentists I have used over the years. I need an extensive amount of work on some teeth. So far, I am very impressed with the work she has performed on my teeth. I have found from the office staff to the hygienist to Dr. Whitehead, everyone is courteous, polite and very professional.      This was the best dental experience I have ever had. Dr. Whitehead and her assistant were beyond amazing. I suffer from extreme anxiety when it relates to the dentist due to past bad experiences which usually results in a slight panic, a few tears and shaking like a leaf. Dr. Whitehead and her assistant did everything right. They walked me through every step of the process, encouraged me, sat with me, provided blankets, a stress ball and conversation. Before I knew it, my entire procedure was over. I didn’t know whether to be proud of myself or Dr. Whitehead for making it through it. Unlike other dental experiences I’ve had, they genuinely cared about my overall wellbeing. My anxiety is a little more at ease knowing that I am in Dr. Whitehead’s expert hands.

They also started doing procedures that werent covered by insurance. However Winter Park Dentistry was great, they listened and did the work I needed.      My name is Amparo Perez, I came in for an appointment with Dr. Whitehead on 04/13/2026 to have a filing replaced. Normally I take anxiety medicine when I go to the dentist. However, I didn't get it on time from the pharmacy so didn't take it. I must share my experience with the care Dr. Whitehead and her assistant provided me. I felt like a best friend or a family member was taking care of me. I didn't experience any type of anxiety. Dr. Whitehead and her assistant make a great team. They both listen to my concerns, and they did everything possible to acomodate my needs and make me feel relaxed. I explained to them about my vértigo symptoms and they were so carefull, attentive abd caring, I was impressed. When Dr. Whitehead walked into my room, the way she greeted me made me feel at ease immediately. Normally, the dental office surroundings and even the dentist are intimidating. Not Dr. Whitehead or her office. The office is very clean, personnel is organized, new equipment and most of all there is caring. Don't miss the opportunity to experience how a great visit to the dentist should feel like. You wouldn't regret it. As I mentioned, I get very anxious when I visit the dentist. But I found out during this visit that it's not me, the way the Dr. and personnel treats the patient makes  the difference. I'm so appreciative of there care, I'll make Winter Park Dentistry my place for my dental care for ever.      This was by far the best experience I’ve ever had at a dentist and I made it pretty obvious when I was there!! I thought that i initially had a cracked tooth (I didn’t) but when I made that phone call at 7:30 am pleading for an emergency appointment, there was no hesitation from the lady at at reception to help me. She very quickly got my insurance verified and I was on my way. Then the dental assistant, who was also so kind and so eager to help me. Then came the doctor, one person after another who didn’t disappoint me and made me feel at home. I left with my tooth fixed and my pocket not hurting either. Highly recommend!!!

Marissa Whitehead, DMD

Dr. Whitehead was born and raised in Michigan and moved to Central Florida as a teenager. After obtaining her Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Florida State University, she attended Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, where she earned her DMD degree. Dr. Whitehead elected to do an additional year of training (General Practice Residency) at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, South Carolina. While there, she gained extensive knowledge and experience in emergency situations, dental surgery, IV sedation, implant dentistry, and treating medically compromised patients. After another year of private practice in South Carolina, she moved back to Florida and practiced in Winter Springs for about five years.

Dr. Whitehead stays up to date with the latest dental products and techniques by attending continuing education courses throughout each year. She is a member of the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, the Central Florida District Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Dental Society of Greater Orlando.

She resides in the Winter Park area with her husband of nine years, James, and their three dogs. In her free time, Dr, Whitehead enjoys attending Orlando City soccer games, Florida State Seminoles football games, and doing CrossFit training.

Dr. Whitehead also participated in the 2019 Florida Dental Assocation Foundation's Missions of Mercy. Florida Mission of Mercy (FLA-MOM) is a two-day professional dental clinic, that provides dental care to the under-served and uninsured in Florida, at no cost to them. At the 2019 FLA-MOM, over 1,800 patients were treated and more than $2 million was donated in dental care.

Shauni Cowan, DMD

Dr. Cowan is a compassionate dentist specializing in general, cosmetic, restorative, and implant dentistry. She grew up in Scarborough, Maine, and graduated Cum Laude from Rhodes College with her Bachelor of Science. She obtained her Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of New England College of Dental Medicine. During college, Dr. Cowan discovered a passion for healthcare by volunteering in the emergency room at a local hospital. While she was captivated by the hustle and bustle of patients and procedures, she realized that she wanted to pursue a career where she could spend more quality time with patients and let her personality shine. Through community service, internships, and fellowships at non-profit dental clinics, she discovered the enormous need for dental care and a genuine passion for helping others.

Dr. Cowan is a member of the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry.

In her free time, Dr. Cowan loves spending time outdoors. When the weather is nice, you can find her hiking, walking, swimming, and spending time with her friends and family outside. She also has a passion for food, whether experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen or exploring restaurants of various cuisines. She also enjoys music and dance.

Jonathan Elmore, DDS

Oral Surgeon

Dr. Jonathan Elmore is a skilled oral and maxillofacial surgeon who was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He earned his undergraduate degree from Morehouse College before completing his dental training at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. He then remained in New York City to pursue advanced specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at The Brooklyn Hospital Center.

Early in his career, Dr. Elmore gained the respect of numerous owner-doctors while working with one of Orlando’s leading dental service organizations. Inspired by his experience and vision for patient-centered care, he founded AMP Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as a trusted environment where dentists and physicians can confidently refer their patients for safe, high-quality surgical care.

Dr. Elmore lives in the Lake Nona area of Orlando with his wife, Lenneia, and their daughters, Ava and Aria. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time on the golf course and playing with his dogs, Soco and Jack.
