Dr. Marissa Whitehead
Dr. Whitehead was born and raised in Michigan and moved to Central Florida as a teenager. After obtaining her bachelors degree in Biology from Florida State University, she attended Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, where she ear
ned her DMD degree. She elected to do an additional year of training (General Practice Residency) at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, South Carolina. While there, she gained extensive knowledge and experience in emergency situations, dental surgery, IV sedation, implant dentistry, and treating medically compromised patients. After another year of private practice in South Carolina, she made the move back and has been previously practicing in Winter Springs for about the past five years.
Dr. Whitehead knows the importance of keeping up with the latest products and techniques in the industry, and achieves this through continuing education courses throughout the year. She is a member of the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, the Central Florida District Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Dental Society of Greater Orlando.
She resides in the Orlando area with her husband of nine years, James, and her three dogs. In her free time, she enjoys attending Orlando city soccer games, Florida state seminoles football games,
and doing Crossfit training
Dr. Peter Kelly
Dr. Kelly’s experience in general dentistry is coupled with a genuine concern for his patients. Coming from a family of five dentists, Dr. Kelly’s knowledge of the profession is top tier. His focus is on providing the most cutting edge services while maintaining the conservativeness of your classic neighborhood dentist. He is an extremely gentle and highly reviewed dentist. After graduating from the University of Florida with a degree in Microbiology, he was accepted into the prestigious University of Maryland Baltimore Dental School, the first dental school in the world. Upon graduation he spent his first years training under some of the top dentists in the country until buying his own practice here in Winter Park, Florida. His practice Winter Park Dentistry, P.A. (Originally John Jay Nelson DDS, P.A.) has been serving the Winter Park community for almost 30 years.
Dr. Kelly stays active in multiple dental organizations including the American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association and the Dental Society of Greater Orlando. Dr. Kelly takes an abundance of continuing education to stay on top of the latest advancements in general dentistry. One of Dr. Kelly’s primary concerns is patient comfort. “Our practice is known for converting the dental phobic patient into someone who actually enjoys going to the dentist,” says Dr. Kelly.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Kelly maintains an active life and is an avid surfer, fitness fanatic, and songwriter. Once a year, Dr. Kelly and his staff host “Dentistry from the Heart Day” where free dental services are offered to members in the community with limited access. On top of that, Dr. Kelly co-manages an annual dental mission trip to El Salvador where he volunteers his services to hundreds of local residents.
